What I’m Really Checking When I See You Postpartum

When most people think of pelvic floor therapy after birth, they imagine intense exercises or invasive exams. In reality, postpartum pelvic floor care is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on helping your body feel safe and supported again.

When I see you postpartum, I’m not looking for “what’s wrong with you.” I’m looking at how your body is healing — and how we can support that healing in a sustainable way.

Here’s what I’m really checking:

Breathing & Core Connection
Your breath plays a huge role in pelvic floor recovery. I’m looking at how your diaphragm, core, and pelvic floor are working together — not forcing strength, but restoring coordination.

Pelvic Floor Tension or Weakness
It’s not always about weakness. Many postpartum symptoms come from tension, guarding, or lack of coordination. We assess what your body actually needs instead of assuming.

Movement Patterns
How you sit, stand, roll, lift, and carry your baby matters. Small changes early on can prevent pain and long-term strain.

Bladder & Bowel Function
Leaking, urgency, constipation, or discomfort are common — but they’re signals, not things to ignore.

Scar & Tissue Healing
Whether you had a vaginal delivery or C-section, your tissues deserve attention, respect, and time to heal properly.

How You’re Really Doing
Postpartum recovery isn’t just physical. Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure is part of the picture — and it matters.

Pelvic floor therapy after birth is not about pushing your body to “bounce back.”
It’s about creating a foundation for healing that lasts.

You deserve care that meets you where you are.
