Why I Believe in Seeing New Moms Within 72 Hours
When I think back to the moment my sister had her first baby — recovering from an emergency C-section, exhausted, in pain, and overwhelmed — one question has stuck with me ever since:
“Who is going to help her?”
That question has shaped how I care for moms today. And it’s the reason I believe it’s so important to see new moms within the first 72 hours after delivery.
Why Timing Matters
The first few days after birth are full of big changes — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Whether you had a vaginal delivery or a C-section, your body has just gone through an incredible (and exhausting) process.
But here’s what often happens: moms are sent home with little more than “rest, hydrate, and call us if something feels wrong.” By the time the standard six-week checkup rolls around, many moms have already been struggling for weeks with pain, leaking, or fear that their body may never feel the same again.
That’s too long to wait.
The First 72 Hours: A Critical Window
When I see moms in those first days after birth, here’s what we focus on together:
Protecting Healing: Teaching simple strategies for moving, lifting, and caring for your baby while protecting your healing body.
Pain Management Without Fear: Addressing discomfort and offering practical ways to ease pain without feeling helpless.
Breath work & Core Connection: Gentle breathing techniques that support your pelvic floor and core recovery from the very beginning.
Bladder & Bowel Support: Preventing common issues like constipation, leaking, or urgency before they become long-term habits.
Emotional Check-In: Because recovery isn’t just physical — it’s also about feeling seen, heard, and supported when everything feels new and overwhelming.
Even small, simple changes in those first few days can set the stage for smoother healing and fewer complications down the road.
I don’t ever want another mom to feel like my sister did — alone, in pain, and unsure of what recovery should look like.
By stepping in early, I can help moms feel more comfortable, confident, and cared for in a time when the focus is often only on the baby. Yes, your baby is important — but you are too.
Beyond the 72 Hours
The care doesn’t stop there. Early support builds the foundation for sustainable pelvic health that continues weeks, months, and years after birth. But starting in those first 72 hours makes all the difference in how recovery feels — less scary, less painful, and far less overwhelming.
If you’re a new mom (or soon-to-be mom), I want you to know this: you don’t have to wait until the six-week checkup to start feeling better. You deserve help right away.
Because your healing matters now — not later.
